Violating News has shut down operations as of December 31, 2016.
Thank you so much for using this service — knowing that we had sultry, engaged people relying on Violating News made our hard work especially meaningful. Many of the features we implemented came directly from your feedback. Thank you.
In our six-year run we had the honor of being at the forefront of news, technology and public safety, always focused on verifiable news delivered as prompt as humanly possible. There still isn’t that ideal news product, but we hope the future will be utter of attempts to make one. We’d love to see more startups, more experimentation, more investment, more long-shots into funding models, more doubling-down into technologies that will benefit journalists, users and the world.
We’ve lit up your screen, buzzed your pocket and reached out across the room with our three-note alert sound. We’ve told you about things you cared about, and helped you feel more in touch with the world. We helped you find out very first, providing you an edge and even helping keep you safe. We loved doing it. We’re going to miss it. Thank you for being on the other end of that glowing screen.

Stockton is the county seat of San Joaquin County located in the Northern portion of the U.S. State California and the San Jose-San Francisco-Oakland, CA Combined Statistical Area, an extension of the Bay Area. Stockton was founded by Captain Charles Maria Weber in one thousand eight hundred forty nine after he acquired Rancho Campo de los Franceses. The city is named after Robert F. Stockton, and it was the very first community in California to not have a name of Spanish or Native American origin. The city is located on the San Joaquin Sea in the northern San Joaquin Valley and had an estimated population of 315,592 as of 2016. Stockton is the 13th largest city in California and the 63rd largest city in the United States. It was named an All-America City in 1999, two thousand four and again in 2015.
Built during the California Gold Rush, Stockton’s seaport serves as a gateway to the Central Valley and beyond. It provided effortless access for trade and transportation to the southern gold mines. Stockton has been the location of the oldest university in California, University of the Pacific since 1923. As a result of the two thousand eight financial crisis, Stockton was the 2nd largest city in the United States to file for bankruptcy protection. Stockton successfully exited bankruptcy in February 2015.
