The Port Macquarie community is mourning the loss of 17-year-old Hazel Kirkbride, who was killed in a truck collision yesterday. The year twelve student at Hastings Secondary College has been described as well-liked and popular with her peers. She was driving along Hastings Sea Drive with her 23-month-old nephew when her crimson sedan collided head on with a garbage truck. The toddler was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital with minor injuries, but Hazel died at the scene. Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. (NO AUDIO) Read More »

Police are investigating whether alcohol was a factor in an incident in the Entrance North overnight, which witnessed a thirty year- old man crash his car into a power pole. Emergency crews were called to Hutton Road at about 4am, where the man was trapped inwards his car. He was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Read More »
BOY DIES FOLLOWING WILLIAMTOWN CAR CRASH

A seven-year-old boy has died following a car crash at Williamtown late yesterday afternoon. Police say a 35-year-old man was driving a Nissan Pathfinder, with four children aged inbetween seven and 14, along Medowie Road, when it left the road onto a grass section, hit a ditch and became airborne. The youthfull boy suffered serious internal injuries and later died at John Hunter Hospital. The other passengers were taken to hospital with minor injuries. MAN’S FOOT AMPUTATED IN CENTRAL COAST CRASH

Police are appealing for information, following a crash on the Central Coast which resulted in a 53-year-old man losing his foot. Just after midday yesterday, officers were called to Arizona Road at Charmhaven, after a car and motorcycle collided. The motorcycle rider suffered serious internal and gam injuries. He was flown to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. A 50-year-old woman driving the Kia sedan was uninjured. Police have exposed the two people who were killed while driving along the Pacific Highway at Moorland, north of Taree yesterday, were a Queensland duo who were on their way home to Clontarf, near Brisbane. 54-year-old Sharon Thorogood and 59-year-old Vincent Thorogood died when their car ran off the highway, crashing into the barrier on the side of the road, before spinning and landing on its roof. “We understand they were travelling from Sydney back to Queensland and obviously this area is about four hours into that tour, which is that weariness zone.” Police say the incident is a tragic reminder to take regular violates while travelling these holidays. A 29-year-old man is in a serious condition following a car crash in the Ourimbah State Forest. Police say the Nissan Navara utility was traveling along Crimson Hill Road at around 2am when it left the road and spinned down an embankment. A 72-year-old Scone man has died after a head-on car crash in the Hunter Valley this morning. At around 7:30am, emergency services were called to the Fresh England Highway at Ravensworth north of Singleton, where a Holden utility and a Ford Territory collided. The man driving the Holden died at the scene. A woman in her 30s, who was driving the other car, was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with non-life menacing injuries. Tragedy was somehow avoided this afternoon,when an elderly driver clipped a ute, while attempting to park near a senior citizen’s centre. He then shot across a Coolangatta street, and into the back of a rubdown clinic. “He was very very close it was matter on an inch before he would have gone through the wall There was a massive bang very fortunate no one was in getting any treatments for a rubdown otherwise they would have hopped off the table pretty quick I’d say (LAUGH).” It’s believed the driver panicked after clipping the ute, causing him to hit the accelerator instead of the brake. Four people have been taken to hospital following a head-on collision on the M1 near Mooney Mooney on the Central Coast tonight. About 8:30pm, police were called to the M1 near the Hawkesbury Sea Bridge following reports of a car travelling on the wrong side of the road. At the scene police found a silver Ford Falcon had been involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle in the northbound lanes. The masculine driver of the Ford has been taken to Gosford Hospital in a critical condition while a woman who was travelling in the other vehicle was airlifted to the Royal North Shore Hospital with two violated gams. A man and woman who were also travelling in that vehicle have been taken to Royal North Shore Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries.
