Posted: 6:58 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017

Two local high school students were killed in a Sunday crash in Bath Twp.

The Greene County incident happened at Trio:55 p.m. Sunday and, by Sunday evening, had the Clark County community grieving.

Here’s what we know now about the incident and its aftermath:

The incident. Four teenagers were in a two thousand five Toyota Corolla that drifted right, overcorrected, went off the left side of the road and hit two trees on Wilkerson Road inbetween Fairborn and Yellow Springs.

The deceased. Both rear passengers — David Waag, seventeen of Beavercreek, and Connor Williams, fifteen of Fairborn, were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Others injured. The driver, Trey Blevins, eighteen of Enon, and the right front passenger, Zach Knauer, seventeen of Springfield, were transported to Soin Medical Center with minor injuries and for observation.

More on the deceased. Waag was a senior soccer player at Greenon High School, and Williams, a sophomore, played football and attended Global Influence STEM Academy.

Community reacts. Community members came together Sunday night at the Greenon High School football field to grieve the loss of the two boys. Some brought candles, others illuminated cellphones to light the night in honor of David Waag and Connor Williams.

You make us so proud, Knights. Thanks for surrounding David and Connor, and each other, with love tonight. #goknights #fordavid #forconnor pic.twitter.com/qTYOEwHSLC

Schools react. Greenon Local Schools and Global Influence STEM Academy announced that they would close on Monday following the incident.
