Speaking about the current S-Cross, it comes with two diesel engine options, the 1.3-litre and 1.6-litre DDiS motors coupled to a 5-Speed or 6-Speed (1.6-litre) manual transmission with a certified fuel efficiency of 23.65kmpl and 22.7kmpl, respectively. While the 1.3-litre engine produces 89.7PS of power and 200Nm of torque, the 1.6-litre produces 119.6PS and 320Nm. The 1.3-litre variant is available in four different variants Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha but the 1.6-litre variant is only available in the top Alpha variant. The S-Cross competes with the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Duster.

Yes, it doesn’t have the road presence you’d get from a similarly priced compact/mid-sized SUV, but if you’re looking for a classy and understated package, the S-Cross does the job flawlessly. It’s also loaded with features and feels premium on the inwards and out. It’s not meant to be an off-roader, so the missing all-wheel drive system is acceptable, but the absence of a petrol engine or the lack of an automatic transmission will be a sore point for some. Otherwise, tho’, the S-Cross is a excellent all-rounder for the money.
